Visit Sarasota County Celebrates National Travel and Tourism Week and Names The 2023 Voice of Sarasota Tourism
National Travel and Tourism Week was celebrated in conjunction with the kick-off of Savor Sarasota Restaurant Week at The Hyatt Regency Sarasota on the evening of May 8th with huge success. Amongst the mingling of over 100 members of the tourism industry, guests received samples from eight different restaurants that will be participating in Savor Sarasota Restaurant Week this June. The celebration also included a 360-degree photo booth, trivia, games, and many prize winners.
The evening also included honoring the 2023 Voice of Sarasota Tourism, Michael Klauber, co-owner of Michael’s On East restaurant. Visit Sarasota County’s President Virginia Haley presented Klauber with the award noting his significant role in the creation of Savor Sarasota Restaurant Week over 18 years ago. Klauber also challenged Haley and the rest of the Visit Sarasota County Board to take charge of the Bayfront 2020 project. Now known as, The Bay, it would not have been possible without his drive.
Visit Sarasota County would like to thank everyone who attended and once again recognize the sponsors who helped make the event such a wonderful experience. The sponsors for the celebration and kick off included Sarasota Manatee Airport Authority, Miles Partnership, Virginia Haley, Beachside Management, TJM Communications and Sarasota County Transit.
