For a real sweet taste of Sarasota, support Sarasota Honey Company. This family-run apiary business offers honey from bees located right in Sarasota and adjacent Manatee County. Sarasota Honey Company's employees are people with special needs taking part in the company's job and social skills training program. Sarasota Honey is active at many of Sarasota's local farmers markets, where you can buy its honey, tea, candles, and more.
Yoder's Southern Creamery
Did someone say ice cream? Yoder's Southern Creamery is Sarasota's local, small-batch ice cream gem and pays homage to the area's prolific Amish community. With over 70 original recipes, find classic flavors like chocolate and mint chip but also innovations like peanut butter and jelly and Siesta sea turtle. Peperonata Pasta
For local pasta and empanadas, you have to try Sarasota's Peperonata Pasta, with a retail location on Tamiami Trail and also a regular presence at our local farmers markets. The folks behind Peperonata Pasta are a family of Italian immigrants from Argentina. From capellini to cavatelli or bucatini to fusilli, you'll find an abundance of fresh pastas to try. Small-batch rum made just steps away from the world-famous Siesta Key? Yes, please! Visit Siesta Key Rum for a distillery tour, and take your pick from flavors like Coffee Rum, Toasted Coconut Rum, Spiced Rum, and more. Discover beautiful gemstone jewelry and even gemstone fossils (Sarasota and the surrounding area have a rich history of fossils like shark teeth).
