The PMP Winter Residency offers unparalleled musical training for gifted students ages 12-20+ from all over the world, who play the violin, viola, cello and bass. PMP’s world-class faculty is led by acclaimed violinist Itzhak Perlman and his wife Toby Perlman who oversee a curriculum of solo, chamber music, and orchestral repertoire at the highest level. The events are held in a performance tent on the USF Sarasota-Manatee Campus and include Orchestra and Chorus Rehearsals, Works In Progress Recitals, and Master Classes. Events held at USFSM are FREE to attend and are open to the public.
The Winter Residency culminates with a Celebration Concert, held at the Sarasota Opera House in downtown Sarasota on January 11, 2025 at 5pm. The PMP String Orchestra and the PMP Chorus perform in concert the repertoire they have been rehearsing throughout the Winter Residency. The Celebration Concert is immediately followed by a Gala Dinner, attended by Toby and Itzhak Perlman, PMP students, faculty and staff at Michael's on East Guests are treated to an unforgettable evening with lots of excitement and rousing entertainment by the PMP participants.
PMP ALUMNI of the program are invited to present recitals, concerts and outreach programs throughout Sarasota during the season. The extraordinary artists perform traditional chamber quartet repertoire as well as contemporary classical pieces for you to enjoy. They engage listeners not only with their brilliant playing but also connect with their audiences through lively Q & A sessions.
